ABOUT THE PANELISTS
 
APRIL CAMLIN is a textile artist, percussionist, and ventriloquist born and raised in Baltimore. She is honored to have lived a very strange life thus far. Her practices are an attempt to probe the subconscious mind and subvert the embedded forces of capitalism in whatever small way she can. www.aprilcamlin.com
 
AMRITA “AMI” DANG is a vocalist, sitarist, composer and producer from Baltimore and New Delhi. She currently writes and performs experimental indie pop music as “Ami Dang” and also plays in electroacoustic duo Raw Silk, folk duo Silk/Slag, and 6-piece post punk band Indole.
 
JANA HUNTER is a non-gender-conforming musician, producer, activist and writer, native of Texas, resident of Baltimore, working professionally as a “pop” musician and performer, primarily in the Baltimore-based band, Lower Dens.

A Life in Waves explores the life and innovations of composer and electronic music pioneer, Suzanne Ciani. From her earliest days learning the piano, to her multi-million dollar advertising ventures, to hersuccesses in the world of New Age music, to her recent re-connection with her beloved Buchla synthesizer, the film is a journey into Suzanne’s mind, offering a feminine glimpse into the often complicated world of electronic music. Utilizing a wealth of archival footage and Suzanne’s endless catalog of music, A Life in Waves is a nostalgic, visually-compelling look at one woman’s journey, and the trials she overcame to succeed in a traditionally male-dominated art form.
