Q&A with “Sollers Point” Director Matthew Porterfield
The Maryland Film Festival was proud to host the Baltimore homecoming of Porterfield’s impressive new work just last weekend. Now, we enthusiastically launch the theatrical premiere of Sollers Point, here in Baltimore, ahead of NYC, LA, and beyond. Don’t miss your chance to experience this exciting moment for Baltimore film culture at the SNF Parkway. For a taste of the film and the two post-screening Q&A’s the Baltimore-based director will host, check out the blow interview conducted by Hannah McGill, courtesy of Oscilloscope Laboratories.
Interview: Erik Ljung of “The Blood is at the Doorstep”
MdFF was proud to host Ljung and his incisive The Blood is at the Doorstep during our festival last year, and on the eve of our 2018 edition, we’re excited to welcome him back to Baltimore with an updated cut of the film. The Blood is at the Doorstep opens this week at the SNF Parkway and Ljung will be present to host a post-screening Q&A at the 4:30 PM and 7:00 PM showings on Sunday, April 29th. In anticipation of his film’s theatrical run, Ljung was kind enough to answer some questions from our programming team.
Interview: Ashley McKenzie of “Werewolf”
Ashley McKenzie’s WEREWOLF is a startling feature debut centered upon a young homeless couple living on the margins of society in a small Canadian town. As the visceral, poignant, and visually arresting WEREWOLF progresses, it both deepens and contorts, becoming a harrowing portrait of codependency and abusive behavior as much as it is one of addiction. MdFF was extremely proud to offer our 2017 festival audiences the U.S. premiere of WEREWOLF, which screened to great acclaim at such prestigious international festivals as TIFF and the Berlinale. In anticipation of her film’s return to Baltimore, director Ashley McKenzie was kind enough to answer some questions from our programming team.
