Interview: Ashley McKenzie of “Werewolf”
Ashley McKenzie’s WEREWOLF is a startling feature debut centered upon a young homeless couple living on the margins of society in a small Canadian town. As the visceral, poignant, and visually arresting WEREWOLF progresses, it both deepens and contorts, becoming a harrowing portrait of codependency and abusive behavior as much as it is one of addiction. MdFF was extremely proud to offer our 2017 festival audiences the U.S. premiere of WEREWOLF, which screened to great acclaim at such prestigious international festivals as TIFF and the Berlinale. In anticipation of her film’s return to Baltimore, director Ashley McKenzie was kind enough to answer some questions from our programming team.

Interview: Jonathan Olshefski of “Quest”
The incredibly moving documentary QUEST, which premiered to great acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival, follows nearly a decade in the life of a North Philadelphia family. Christopher “Quest” Rainey and his wife, Christine’a “Ma Quest,” run a hip-hop recording studio out of their home, offering their neighborhood a safe space for friendship, creativity, and the exchange of ideas. Director Jonathan Olshefski’s remarkable film follows the Raineys for a decade of surprising changes and challenges, as they raise a family with the same patience, passion, and resilience they bring to their music.
Don’t miss this one! To whet your appetite, Olshefski graciously answered some questions from the MdFF programming team.
